Interesting day for quarterbacks in the NFL…

Drew Bledsoe, number 1 draft pick back in 1993, gets cut by the Bills… I thought the offensive line was starting to hold up towards the end of the last season, and it seemed like Bledsoe was finally starting to get over the whole "Brady took my job" thing. But, the Bills have apparently decided to cut him anyway… Where to next, Bledsoe?

Jeff Garcia, ex-niner, is probably going to be cut as well, it seems. I especially liked this one paragraph in an article that was posted on http://www.tuscaloosanews.com :

"Off-season distractions further strained Garcia’s relationship with the Browns and Cleveland fans. Garcia had to testify in a trial for his girlfriend, a Playboy Playmate, who was accused of karate-kicking one of Garcia’s ex-girlfriends during a fight at a downtown nightclub."

Hmmm…. And, by the way, Garcia is not 6’0" (he is shorter).

And finally, apparently the Chargers are inclining towards putting the "franchise" tag on Drew Brees. They are "inclining" towards? Jeez! Brees had a record year, and played like a veteran 4th year QB in the NFL (which he is, by the way). And they’re considering giving him another year to prove himself? I cannot imagine anyone saying, "ok, I will work my bee-hind off for another year, and then why don’t you evaluate me again, while a 6-4 2nd pick overall (Philip Rivers) who gets paid several million dollars, sits on the bench and ummmm hangs out at the beach in the off season".

PS: As I was writing this up, I noticed that http://www.drewbledsoe.com had gone down.

PPS: Maybe its just me (again), but does anyone remember seeing Bledsoe being drafted in Jerry Maguire?
